Rayvoss Application for Industrial Facilities
3 July 2019Cathodic protection, which is used to prevent corrosion and is a highly critical application, prevents metals from corroding. In cathodic protection, which is an electrochemical process, an electric current is generated by enabling the movement of electrons. As a result of chemical reactions, the displacement of electrons through the cathodic protection process prevents corrosion of metals. The spark gap suppressor plays a major role in this application.

Our Raycap EPZ 100 Spark gap suppressor is a very important product during integration with grounding in cathodic protection applications. Spark gap suppressor products connected between the cathodic protection system and grounding isolate the systems under normal conditions. In case of an increase in potential difference such as lightning discharge from the grounding system, they ensure that both systems reach equipotential. When the potential difference is eliminated, the surge is suppressed and strong current flow is prevented; possible arc, spark, and explosion risks are eliminated. Spark gap suppressor products are used at highly critical points such as achieving equipotential bonding in flammable and explosive systems, suppressing possible arcs between pipelines, including external lightning protection systems in equipotential bonding, and connection points between cathodic protection systems and grounding. Especially in flammable and explosive environments, the ex-proof spark gap suppressor makes a difference with its 100 kA suppression capacity.
