Rayvoss for Critical Power

Rayvoss A

The Raycap Rayvoss® "A" Series is the highest current capacity surge suppression system in the Rayvoss family. Featuring Strikesorb® 80 protection modules, it is designed for high-power main service entrances with UL-listed installation using 120 mm² (225 A) cable.

The Rayvoss® "A" Series is a complete surge suppression system designed for high-risk and critical power protection applications. It features Strikesorb® 80 modules, the highest capacity protection element in the series, and is available with various operating voltage options. UL-listed installation with 120 mm² (225 A) cable makes the A series the highest current member of the Rayvoss family.

Strikesorb, the high-surge capacity protection element within Rayvoss systems, repeatedly dissipates excess energy from lightning and grid-induced surges without performance degradation or aging of the SPD module. This eliminates the problem of protection level decline over time common in classic systems.

A key design difference of the system is its lack of internal fuses. Cables can be connected directly to internal busbars, eliminating voltage drop across a fuse. This results in advantages such as lower clamping voltage, zero maintenance, and no replaceable parts. Rayvoss can also be installed in-line, which eliminates the need for long cable runs, ensuring the lowest possible clamping voltage.

  • Strikesorb® 80 protection modules
  • UL 1449 5th Edition safety standard listing
  • NEMA 4 enclosure — outdoor rated
  • Fuse-free design
  • Direct cable connection to internal busbars
  • Elimination of fuse-induced voltage drop → lower clamping voltage
  • Zero maintenance, no replaceable parts
  • In-line mounting capability
  • UL-listed installation with 120 mm² (4/0 AWG), 225 A rated cable
  • Reduced cable inductance and clamping voltage with large cross-section cable
  • Operation without aging or performance degradation after repeated surges

Operating Voltage Options (AC, rms)

120 V · 240 V · 277 V · 400 V · 480 V · 600 V

Rayvoss A is preferred for high-current main service entrances and applications where the highest surge energy is expected:

  • High-power main distribution panels — Highest current capacity solution in the series
  • Power generation and distribution facilities — Substations and transformer stations
  • Heavy industrial facilities — Production lines with high installed power
  • Data centers — Main service and critical power distribution
  • Renewable energy plants — AC collection points in solar and wind farms
  • Large-scale commercial and industrial facilities — Building entrance point protection
  • Outdoor installations — Locations requiring external mounting due to NEMA 4 enclosure
  • Hospital and critical infrastructure facilities — Systems where interruption directly leads to service loss
