Rayvoss for Critical Power

Rayvoss M

The Raycap Rayvoss® "M" Series is a surge suppression system designed for high-risk and critical power protection applications. It contains Strikesorb® 80 or Strikesorb 40 protection modules and has a higher current capacity than the S series due to its UL-listed installation with 35 mm² (100 A) cable.

The Rayvoss® "M" Series is a complete surge suppression system designed for high-risk and critical power protection applications. It contains Strikesorb® 80 or Strikesorb 40 protection modules, depending on the application's requirements, and is offered with various operating voltage options.

Strikesorb, the high-surge capacity protection element within Rayvoss systems, repeatedly dissipates excess energy from lightning and grid-induced surge impulses without performance degradation or aging. This eliminates the problem of declining protection levels over time, common in conventional systems.

A defining difference in the system's design is that it does not require an internal fuse. Since cables can be connected directly to the internal busbars, voltage drop across a fuse is eliminated, resulting in advantages such as lower clamping voltage, zero maintenance, and no replaceable parts. Rayvoss can also be mounted in-line, which eliminates the need for long cable runs, ensuring the lowest possible clamping voltage.

  • Strikesorb® 80 or Strikesorb 40 protection modules
  • Full UL 1449 5th Edition safety standard listing
  • NEMA 4 enclosure — resistant to outdoor conditions
  • Fuse-free design
  • Direct connection of cables to internal busbars
  • Elimination of fuse-induced voltage drop → lower clamping voltage
  • Zero maintenance, no replaceable parts
  • In-line mounting capability
  • UL-listed installation with 35 mm² (#2 AWG), 100 A rated cable
  • Reduced cable inductance and clamping voltage with large cross-section cable use
  • Operation without aging or performance degradation during successive surges

Rayvoss M is preferred in critical power applications where high current capacity and high surge energy are simultaneously required:

  • Main distribution panels — First-stage protection at high-current supply points
  • Data centers — Critical power distribution and main supply lines
  • Heavy industrial facilities — Production lines with high installed power
  • Power generation and distribution facilities — Substations and field distribution points
  • Renewable energy plants — AC collection points in solar and wind farms
  • Frequency inverters (VFD) and motor control centers — High-power drive panels
  • Outdoor installations — Locations requiring external mounting due to NEMA 4 enclosure
  • Hospital and critical infrastructure facilities — Systems where interruption directly leads to service loss
