Rayvoss for Critical Power

Rayvoss N

The Raycap Rayvoss® "N" Series is a surge suppression system designed for high-risk and critical power protection applications. It features Strikesorb® 80 or Strikesorb 40 protection modules, is housed in a NEMA 4 enclosure for outdoor conditions, and is offered in a wide operating voltage range from 60 V to 1000 V.

The Rayvoss® "N" Series is a complete surge suppression system designed for high-risk and critical power protection applications. It incorporates Strikesorb® 80 or Strikesorb 40 protection modules, depending on the application's requirements, and is available with various operating voltage options.

Strikesorb, the high-current capacity protection element within Rayvoss systems, repeatedly dissipates excess energy from lightning and grid-induced surge impulses without performance degradation or aging of the module. This eliminates the problem of protection levels decreasing over time, common in conventional systems.

A key design differentiator of the system is its lack of need for an internal fuse. Cables can be connected directly to the internal busbars, eliminating voltage drop across a fuse, resulting in advantages such as lower clamping voltage, zero maintenance, and no replaceable parts. Rayvoss N can also be mounted in-line, which eliminates the need for long cable runs, ensuring the lowest possible clamping voltage.

Rayvoss N is preferred in power applications where high surge energy and continuity are critical:

  • Main and Sub-Distribution Panels — Protection at critical supply points
  • Data Centers — Critical power distribution and supply lines
  • Industrial Facilities and Production Lines — Process-critical panels
  • Power Generation and Distribution Facilities — Substations and field distribution points
  • Renewable Energy Plants — AC side protection in solar and wind power sites
  • Frequency Inverters (VFD) and Motor Control Systems — Drive supply points
  • Outdoor Installations — Locations requiring outdoor mounting due to NEMA 4 enclosure
  • Hospitals and Critical Infrastructure Facilities — Systems where interruption directly translates to service loss
