Coaxial and RF Systems Protection

The Raycap RayCox and RayDat CP series is a family of in-line SPDs developed for the protection of coaxial and RF systems against lightning-induced surges. It protects TV sets, antenna amplifiers, CCTV/CATV systems, and RF antenna systems. It offers frequencies up to 6 GHz, 50 Ω and 75 Ω impedance options, insertion loss as low as < 0.2 dB, and BNC, N, 7/16, TNC, UHF, F, IEC TV connector types. All feature robust metal housings.

Surge protection in satellite reception systems or at building entrances is essential to prevent RF and security system signal loss during storms. For long cable runs, protection must also be provided on the receiver side.

Coaxial protection devices are designed to protect TV sets, antenna amplifiers, CCTV/CATV systems, and RF antenna systems and are suitable for frequencies up to 6 GHz.

The most critical design constraint for RF protection devices is that the device must not degrade the signal while protecting the line. Raycap solves this with low-capacitance gas discharge tubes (GDT) and high-quality termination connectors — ensuring minimum insertion loss across the frequency band. Values: < 0.4 dB (most series), < 0.2 dB (7/16 series). Return loss is > 20 dB.

Devices are designed to meet 50 Ω or 75 Ω typical impedance requirements. Easy installation is provided with different connector types such as BNC, IEC TV, 7/16, N, TNC, UHF, and SMA. F-F (female-female) and M-F (male-female) variants are available.

Product families:

RayCox BNC Series — for Analog video surveillance (CCTV) systems. 10 V and 24 V DC versions, 100 MHz cutoff frequency, 16 Mbit/s transmission rate. GDT + bidirectional TVS diode hybrid structure.

RayCox IEC 48 / F 48 — for TV and cable TV. 40–860 MHz frequency range, IEC TV or F connector. MOV + inductance + capacitor structure.

RayDat CP BNC / N / UHF Series — 50 Ω general-purpose RF protection. 70 V, 180 V, 280 V voltage and 40 W, 125 W, 300 W peak power options. BNC and N: DC–2.6 GHz, UHF: DC–600 MHz.

RayDat CP 7/16 Series — for High-power telecom applications. Bulkhead mounting, DC–2.5 GHz, lowest insertion loss (< 0.2 dB).

RayDat CP N-6G / TNC-6G Series — for High-frequency applications. DC–6.0 GHz, 180 V / 125 W. Suitable for 5G and modern wireless systems.

RayDat CP F75 / TV75 Series — for 75 Ω systems. DC–2.0 GHz, F or TV connector. Satellite and TV distribution systems.

All CP series coaxial cable protectors are designed in accordance with IEC 61643-21:2012 standard. Discharge capacity for the CP series is In 10 kA, Imax 20 kA (8/20 µs). Insulation resistance is > 10 GΩ. Operating temperature is -40 °C … +80 °C, protection class is IP 20.
