Solar Power Plant Lightning Damage Images
21 May 2016Today, surge arrester technologies are increasingly diversifying, and the disadvantages of MOV and spark gap technologies are being eliminated. In this sense, we wanted to explain to you the Strikesorb surge arresters, which is a new technology. Strikesorb uses countless extremely thin electrodes parallel to each other alongside MOV technology in impulse absorption. Traditional surge arresters consist of a MOV placed between these two electrodes.

There are no flammable materials in Strikesorb technology. MOVs are not placed in parallel but seated on a single line. This provides lower leakage voltages and lower resistance values.

Strikesorb internal structure. Reinforced outer metal part, large thermal capacity, and electrodes are features not found in other surge arrester systems.
Advantages of StrikeSorb Technology
- Maintenance-free thanks to its patented technology. It is plug-and-forget. It has a 10-year product warranty.
- No smoke, explosion, or burning thanks to its durable metal body. Life span increases as heat transfer is done in the most correct way.
- Stronger impulses are absorbed thanks to distributed single MOV technology.
- Connection resistance decreases thanks to metal electrodes, the usable surface of the MOV increases. Better cooling is provided.
- Its cylindrical symmetric design allows us to avoid Lorentz effects. Thus, the response time of the surge arrester is better.
- Passed IEC 61643-1 surge arrester test standards.
- Thanks to StrikeSorb, the connectivity of these surge arresters has increased. High short-circuit current capacity and usability without fuses provide flexibility.
Performance Metrics
Thanks to its patented technology, these surge arresters have high-level durability metrics. You can see it from the table below.
