25 April 2021END TO LIGHTNING-INDUCED RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICE TRIPPING!
Type F residual current devices provide a definitive solution against residual current tripping caused by sudden overvoltage fluctuations. In events where possible voltage fluctuations, sudden peaks, and lightning strikes suddenly increase the grid frequency, AC type residual current devices trip continuously. Type F residual current devices, on the other hand, provide a definitive solution especially against lightning-induced residual current device tripping!
AC type devices operate at a frequency of 50 Hz. However, during sudden peaks, this frequency value can rise up to 1000 Hz. Type F devices are resistant to these frequency values. Whether the lightning strike hits your facility or the grid lines, systems are affected by this frequency change. In fact, even when lightning does not strike, residual current devices trip at many points simply due to lightning-carrying clouds approaching the facility area during charged weather conditions. Since these sudden overvoltage fluctuations occur very frequently in industrial facilities, continuous tripping is highly likely, especially if AC type residual current devices are used. However, many people returning home from summer vacations may find that their refrigerator is not working due to the residual current device tripping. To prevent such situations, the correct device type to be used is Type F. We recommend replacing your existing residual current devices with Type F residual current devices.
Type F residual current devices are the most accurate devices that provide user-oriented benefits; they are the most ideal devices for UPS output points, welding machines, apartment panels, combination sockets, motors, and similar points. The use of Type F Residual Current Devices is suitable for any issue involving voltage rise. They are also suitable for use in systems where neutral is not used.

While AC Surge Arrester systems prevent lightning strikes from damaging electrical devices, Residual Current Devices prevent people from being electrocuted by residual currents. Both AC surge arrester products and residual current devices must обязательно be included in an electrical panel.
As Yılkomer, we carry the country responsibility for Raycap branded products in Low Voltage Surge Arrester products and recommend the use of our PROTEC C TYPE 2+3 40KA Series surge arresters specifically for apartment panels against sudden voltage rises. In the residual current device product group, we also carry the country responsibility for the specialized residual current devices of the Italian brand Gewiss.
