Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Are Protected with Yılkomer
22 April 2019Rail systems are systems that must operate with zero tolerance for errors against possible lightning and transient overvoltage surges. The damage that a lightning strike can cause to railway system signaling and control centers, and the confusion it may create within the system, can lead to major problems. As Yılkomer, we convey the principle of maximum safety in transportation to our customers with the superior solutions of Raycap, for which we carry national responsibility in this field.
With Raycap RVL, TVL, and RHS-SCD product groups, Yılkomer offers ideal solutions against lightning and transient surges in railway, tramway, and metro networks to ensure public safety. Raycap voltage limiting products protect personnel and passengers against dangerous touch voltages that may occur on railways. Surge protection devices manufactured by Raycap provide uninterrupted protection against transient overvoltages in railway network systems.
If we introduce the Raycap Railway Systems product group in general;
RVL SERIES – RAILWAY VOLTAGE LIMITER

In the event of an overvoltage rise, the RVL series reduces dangerous voltage to very low and safe values. Additionally, in fault conditions, it creates a safe zone between overloaded areas and transformers in possible short circuits. The increase in high current loads detected at the substation ensures the safe opening of protective circuit breakers.
*Responds very quickly.
*Features Strikesorb technology.
*Has a wide operating temperature range.
*Provides bidirectional protection.
TVL SERIES – RAILWAY VOLTAGE LIMITING SYSTEM

In case of overvoltage, the TVL limits dangerous voltage to very low and safe values. Additionally, in fault conditions (for example, accidental short circuits with contact lines), the TVL creates a robust conductive path between the overloaded area and the substation. This causes an increase in current loads detected at the substation, enabling the protective circuit breaker to open effectively.
RHP-SCD SERIES

When excessive touch voltage occurs, the RHP-SCD efficiently short-circuits the negative rail and ground, limiting the voltage to very low and safe values. The programmable automatic opening of the RHP-SCD limits the effects of leakage currents. In the event of insulation faults (for example, accidental short circuits with contact lines), the RHP-SCD creates a robust conductive path between the overloaded area and the substation and can carry the traction fault current until it is cleared by a high-speed circuit breaker. State-of-the-art protection technology against lightning and transient overvoltages ensures optimal equipment protection.
