PROTEC T2 PV Box DC Protection in Rooftop Solar Power Plants
13 September 2020New Series RAYCAP Protec T1 S LV Surge Protection Model Provides Superior Protection for Critical Infrastructures! The PROTEC T1 S Series, which provides the strongest protection level, has the smallest size in its category!
Raycap’s new series product PROTEC T1 S has drawn all attention by being the smallest-sized product providing 100 kA Iimp lightning protection. Products providing 25 kA Iimp protection per phase on the 10/350 ms waveform are generally extremely large; however, the new PROTEC T1 S series is half the size and can still deliver the strongest protection. Especially when strong protection was required inside small panels, this was previously not very feasible. However, the new PROTEC T1 S makes a difference as the most powerful product capable of providing protection at this size.
- ProTec T1S is the latest product developed by Raycap with cutting-edge technology in the field of surge protection.
- In the 1TE (17.5 mm) DIN rail category, it is the smallest pluggable Class B 100 kA surge protection system tested at 25 kA 10/350 μs in Risk I test class.
It reduces the installation space by half and protects downstream devices even under harsh network conditions.
In the LV surge protection product group, our global partner Raycap continues to expand its portfolio. ProTec T1S is currently the most compact surge protection device on the market and meets the requirements of IEC test class I according to IEC 61643-11. With its new patented multi-cell GDT technology, Raycap guarantees long-term and trouble-free protection.
Small, smaller, smallest – manufacturers of surge protection devices have been working for years to develop a DIN rail protection product smaller than 2HP with 25 kA 10/350 μs Class I protection. This product has now been realized by our global partner Raycap. With ProTec T1S, it is the first smallest-sized cartridge-type DIN rail product on the market. In addition, the product’s Up value and response times are excellent.
ProTec T1S, with its compact 4HP design offering the highest discharge capacity of 100 kA 10/350 µs, reduces the required installation space by half. At the same time, the surge protector protects downstream devices with one of the fastest response characteristics for Type 1 protectors. Therefore, it is suitable for use wherever the highest level of safety is required but installation space is very limited.
It has become the most ideal surge protector for residential interiors.
Due to certain limitations of conventional surge protection devices, the challenges in developing compact, cartridge-type LV surge protectors with the above-mentioned features have been an issue for manufacturers until now, and such a product had not been produced.
ProTec T1S is manufactured using a new patented technology called the Phase Gas Discharge Tube (PGDT). The multi-cell, encapsulated GDT technology combines the characteristics of voltage-limiting and voltage-switching LV surge protection devices in one product. Voltage switching technology enables a small installation space without the disadvantages of high residual voltage or poor nominal follow current values. The new multi-cell design reduces follow current to a level where ProTec T1S behaves similarly to MOV-based technologies and can therefore be installed in networks with high prospective short-circuit residual currents (SCCR). This also optimizes space usage in control cabinets, occupying only half the space of competing products.
Our partner Raycap has many years of experience in developing and manufacturing reliable and long-lasting products. The combination of this technical know-how with the new patented PGDT technology offers users a solution for harsh environments where recurring surge events occur. It provides unlimited protection capacity. At the same time, ProTec T1S protects systems against lightning events under challenging network conditions such as network faults or very high prospective currents without affecting the grid.
Other features and advantages of PGDT technology
Due to the PGDT technology used, the SPDs of the ProTec T1S series correspond to IEC Class I according to IEC 61643-11. This means they are suitable for locations where direct or indirect lightning currents can be expected in accordance with IEC 62305-4. In addition, the product is IEC and VDE approved. Thanks to the low residual voltage of Up = 1.5 kV at 50 kA 50/60 Hz, devices of the ProTec T1S series can be easily coordinated with Class III surge protectors in the network.
In addition, the surge protector features potential-free remote signaling contacts for remote monitoring and an optical red/green status indicator. Raycap also uses an encapsulated design to prevent the escape of hot, conductive, ionized gases. All critical components are placed inside an airtight sealed cell. The design of the devices allows easy mechanical and thermal disconnection. In this way, the device can be safely disconnected from the grid and – if necessary – a fault can be reported.
As Yılkomer, we are pleased to offer our customers superior-technology surge protectors such as the PROTEC T1S Series. For technical details and requests, you can contact us via Yılkomer communication channels.
