The cartridge of the Raycap PROTEC C 160/320 Series features green and red status indicators. When the cartridge is damaged after exposure to a maximum surge, the indicator changes from green to red. You can replace this cartridge during physical inspections. If on-site access is not possible, the remote signaling contact output allows you to monitor the device remotely and determine the need for replacement. In addition, the Raycap PROTEC C 160/320 TYPE 2 Class C SPD can operate in integration with PROLEC BASIC in-panel surge counters, enabling easy notification of replacement requirements.
The Raycap PROTEC C series can be safely used in TT and TN-S grounding systems. The SPD, integrated in parallel to the system, must be connected using a cable with a minimum cross-section of 16 mm². Cable lengths are very important during the installation of the PROTEC C TYPE 2 40kA series and should be kept as short as possible. Remember that cable length creates voltage drop, which affects the desired Up value. The Protec C series has an Up value below 1.5 kV. The product operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
A protective fuse may be used upstream solely to allow intervention on the SPD. In standard applications, a 63 A fuse is preferred, and it must always be rated lower than the main fuse.
