Strikesorb Series

Strikesorb 40

Raycap Strikesorb® 40 is a high-capacity industrial Surge Protective Device (SPD) classified under IEC 61643-11. With an impulse current withstand capacity of up to 25 kA on a 10/350 µs waveform, it provides protection without module degradation in sites with the highest lightning risk.

Strikesorb® 40 is a high-capacity industrial surge protective device designed to protect critical facilities against lightning and grid-induced overvoltage surges. Classified under IEC 61643-11, the product is also fully recognized under UL 1449 5th Edition. It offers significantly higher energy absorption capacity compared to Strikesorb 30, making it preferred for high-exposure sites and entry points with intense surge loads.

The fundamental difference of Strikesorb technology is its operation without interrupting protection continuity. While classic varistor-based devices degrade with successive surges and lose their protective capability over time, Strikesorb 40 absorbs high-energy surges without module degradation. Its fuse-free direct connection structure eliminates additional components in the protection path and their associated failure points.

The device is designed without flammable, smoke-emitting, or explosive materials, and its fully sealed enclosure ensures reliable operation in dusty, humid, and harsh field conditions. It has been tested and certified according to international IEC and UL safety and performance standards. Based on years of field performance data, its expected service life exceeds 20 years, and all modules come with a 10-year limited lifetime warranty.

Strikesorb 40 is preferred in applications where high surge energy is expected and continuity is critical:

  • Main distribution panels and building entry points — First stage where lightning current share is highest
  • Wind power plants — Turbine and site distribution panels
  • Solar power plants — Inverter output and AC collection points
  • Industrial facilities and production lines — Supply points where interruptions directly lead to production loss
  • Power distribution facilities — Switchyards and substations
  • Telecommunication infrastructures — High-exposure tower and site installations
  • Data centers — Main supply lines
  • Open-field facilities in high lightning density areas
