ProTec T1-PV Product Series
The Raycap ProTec T1-PV series comprises high-performance, pluggable Type 1 and Type 2 Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) designed to protect DC power in photovoltaic (PV) systems. Ideal for string combiner boxes and PV inverters; used in 1100 V DC and 1500 V DC systems.
The ProTec T1-PV product series consists of high-performance, pluggable Type 1 and Type 2 DC surge protection devices designed to protect DC power in photovoltaic systems. It is particularly suitable for protecting string combiner boxes and PV inverters; developed for use in 1100 V DC and 1500 V DC systems.
Protection in DC circuits differs from AC with a fundamental distinction: the arc does not extinguish itself in DC. In an AC grid, the current naturally extinguishes as it passes through zero every half cycle; in DC, there is no such zero crossing. Therefore, the short-circuit withstand capability and disconnection behavior of a DC surge arrester are critically important—an incorrectly selected DC SPD can become a source of fire instead of providing protection.
All ProTec PV devices feature low-profile modules and offer 11 kA short-circuit withstand capability. The ProTec T1-PV-S model in the series stands out with superior short-circuit withstand capability up to 30 kA; this model is preferred in sites where high short-circuit currents are expected.
The products are suitable for both the US and European markets, complying with EN 50539-11:2013+A1:2014 and UL 1449 5th Edition standards. Vibration and shock resistance, along with precise and reliable remote contact features, ensure safe operation in field conditions.
