Earthing and Equipotential Bonding

nVent ERICO Grounding Busbar — Equipotential Bonding Bar

Copper busbar providing single-point grounding and equipotential bonding in installations. Conductors connected via Cadweld exothermic welding or mechanical lug. Thickness 6.35 – 12.7 mm, width 25 – 152 mm, length up to 3.66 meters. 573 standard configurations and custom production options. UL / cUL certified.

Under fault and transient conditions, creating an equipotential plane between service grounds and equipment is the primary purpose of proper equipotential bonding.

This equipotential plane ensures near-zero voltage difference between points, protecting both personnel and equipment during these events.

As stated by the manufacturer, the grounding busbar is the most common equipotential bonding product used today.

The busbar creates a single collection point in the installation: grounding conductors, equipment grounds, cable trays, metal pipelines, surge arrester grounds, and structural steel all converge on the same busbar.

Conductors are connected to the busbar by one of two methods:

  • With nVent ERICO Cadweld exothermic welding — a permanent, low-resistance, non-removable connection
  • With mechanical lug — a removable, replaceable connection

Busbar material is copper. If desired, it can be produced as tin-plated.

Custom sizes and configurations can be produced.
