22 March 2015Protection of a Hydrogen Gas Facility Using Rolling Sphere and Tension Wire Methods
In the facility, where a risk analysis was carried out according to IEC 62305 standards, rolling sphere radii were calculated and the maximum height at which flammable hydrogen gas could accumulate was determined to design the system. Additionally, in the system supported by the tension wire method, equipotential bonding was established both at the top and at the grounding point using ring conductors. Due to the insulated lightning down conductors and the system being suitable for ZONE-1 risk areas, an extremely safe system was implemented. To dissipate impulses transferred to the ground and prevent arc formation, a damping ground conductor parafudr system was added to all grounding points. The expert engineers and implementation team of Lightning Protection Center have successfully completed another project.
