As you know, transformer burnouts, explosions on lines, explosions of surge arresters installed on lines, and long-term power outages caused by lightning strikes are problems we frequently experience across the country. In fact, the main reason for these problems is that the products used on the MV surge arrester side are generally selected only for grid surge protection rather than lightning strike protection. When we examine this technically, we see that the majority of MV surge arresters produced in our country do not have a protection curve against lightning strikes; these products provide protection at around 10 kA against grid surges and sudden overvoltage surges, which leads to serious damage in the event of a possible lightning strike. Medium voltage surge arrester products must be selected according to the regional lightning risk. Especially in facilities such as GSM towers, wind power plants, solar power plants, and transmitters, we frequently witness transformer burnouts caused by surges coming from the medium voltage side. In order to protect a transformer against lightning strikes, we recommend RAYVOSS systems on the LV side and IZOELEKTRO lightning-protected Medium Voltage Surge Arresters on the MV side.

When we look at our Medium Voltage Surge Arrester Systems product group, our MV surge arrester products are divided into two categories: Class DH and Class I.
Our DH AND CLASS I MV surge arresters are manufactured according to the latest IEC 2014 standard. We have products in both classes with operating voltages up to 44 kV. The products are fully coated with mechanically durable silicone and are resistant to bird nesting. Both MV surge arrester products can be monitored via the RAM System. 100% of our products are tested.

Our DH Series surge arresters are top-level products. They have much higher protection values and offer a longer service life compared to Class I products. Their protection Up values are significantly superior.

For this reason, we recommend the use of DH Series MV Surge Arrester products in very challenging sites.
The use of silicone MV surge arresters is much more advantageous compared to porcelain surge arresters. Therefore, silicone coating is preferred in our products. Our silicone MV Surge Arrester products;
