AN END TO RESIDUAL CURRENT TRIPPING PROBLEMS WITH GEWISS TYPE F AND TYPE B RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICES
The relay referred to as a Type K residual current device is not a standard relay; as a result of the evolution of the Type F, it is named this way by some brands and offered on the market. In the light of IEC 61008-1 and IEC 62423 Standards, you can completely eliminate this problem with the correct and standard-compliant product selection. Our Gewiss branded residual current device products provide a solution in many facilities where residual current devices are disabled due to failure to hold or unnecessary tripping. In the event of a possible leakage, especially in factories, operators being electrocuted is common. There cannot be an unsolvable engineering issue just because a residual current device does not hold. The most important reason why a residual current device does not hold is incorrect relay selection. Generally, AC type relays in your system continuously trip because their frequency values do not match possible harmonics and frequency changes; you can easily solve this problem by selecting the correct relay.

In machines with drives, harmonic values are high. Especially in such machines, the relay type you should use is harmonic-filtered relays. With the filter structure in Gewiss Type B relays, you provide additional protection against harmonic and mixed frequency values. Standard relays trip during frequency changes. In drive-controlled machines, frequency changes are always present.
