Strikesorb 35 DC
Raycap Strikesorb® 35 DC is a maintenance-free surge protection module specifically designed for direct current systems up to 1500 V DC. It is classified as Class I+II according to IEC 61643-31 and Type 2 Component Assembly according to UL 1449 5th Edition. Thanks to its patented design, it does not use fuses or thermal disconnectors, completely eliminating the risk of explosion and fire.
Strikesorb 35 DC is a DC surge protection module based on Raycap's patented single-piece, heavy-duty distribution class MOV (metal oxide varistor) disk technology. The disk is mounted under pressure within a hermetically sealed aluminum housing.
The difference this structure brings is decisive: internal contact resistance is very low, heat management is excellent, and the impulse current is homogeneously distributed over the entire surface of the protection element. The result is very low let-through voltage combined with exceptionally high energy absorption capacity.
Its most important distinction from classic surge arresters is this: Strikesorb does not use internal fuses or thermal disconnectors. In traditional SPDs, safety during a fault depends on the thermal disconnector that isolates the varistor from the circuit, and failure of this mechanism can lead to fire. Strikesorb's design minimizes aging effects and completely eliminates the risk of catastrophic failure, explosion, or fire.
Furthermore, it does not contain a spark gap or switching elements. This means an unusually low protection level (Up) for a Class I+II product — meaning it can carry direct lightning current and leaves a sufficiently low residual voltage for sensitive DC electronics. The response time is < 1 ns.
The module withstands 12.5 kA (10/350 µs) direct lightning current and is designed to be resistant to repetitive impulses. It is maintenance-free, with no need for periodic module replacement; this reduces the total cost of ownership in harsh field conditions. The product comes with a 10-year limited lifetime warranty.
The series consists of four models based on operating voltage: 35-D-HV (650 V), 35-E-HV (800 V), 35-F-HV (1100 V), and 35-G-HV (1500 V). -M (M12 thread) and -M10 (M10 thread) metric connection variants are available. The products are UL, VDE, and CE certified.
