ProTec T1-PV 5Y
Raycap ProTec T1-PV 5Y is a pluggable overvoltage protection device developed for 1100 V DC photovoltaic systems, DIN rail-mountable. It is classified as EN Type 1+2 / Type 1CA PV SPD and can protect two or three PV strings in a single housing—an ideal solution for string combiner boxes and PV inverters.
ProTec T1-PV 5Y consists of high-performance, pluggable protection devices designed for 1100 V DC photovoltaic systems, DIN rail-mountable. It features EN Type 1+2 and Type 1CA PV SPD classification, meaning it can both carry a portion of the direct lightning current and reduce residual overvoltage to a level the device can withstand.
The distinguishing feature of the series is its "5Y" structure: the device is configured to protect two or three PV strings in a single housing. Instead of using separate surge arresters for each string in string combiner boxes, multi-string protection is provided by a single device. This significantly reduces both the module width (TE) within the panel and wiring complexity.
All devices feature low-profile modules, ensuring no installation issues in shallow combiner boxes and space-constrained panels. Two different terminal connection options are offered, facilitating adaptation to existing panel designs.
Vibration and shock resistance provide assurance against mechanical stress in field-type PV sites. A precise and reliable remote contact allows monitoring of the surge arrester's status via SCADA—eliminating the need for on-site checks across a site spanning kilometers.
