1 November 2015In terms of electrical system protection, the position, type, and design of external lightning down conductors are as important as Low Voltage Surge Arrester systems. If lightning down conductors do not have sufficient S distance, electrical systems may be damaged by surges traveling through parallel lines, and lightning strikes reaching temperatures of 28,000°C on flammable surfaces pose a fire risk. To prevent these issues and take additional measures, we can select our down conductor systems as insulated.

At this point, again according to IEC standards, by highlighting the fast transfer details of flat conductors in the down conductor system, we can prefer the Li-Con insulated lightning down system as a safe down conductor system. The Li-Con insulated down system, which can be used in Lightning Rod and Faraday Cage systems, has low impedance values according to METU test reports. If the system to be protected is a flammable or explosive facility, insulated down conductors with ex-Proof properties can be preferred as an alternative.
