Protection of HMI Panels Against Overvoltages
1 September 2017Protection of Signal Converters from Sudden Overvoltages; Signal converters are effectively used in our factory for many applications such as processing analog signals, reading frequency and temperature values, and amplifying weak currents. Signal converters ensure the correct reading of signals in our facility. On the other hand, these systems are very sensitive to sudden overvoltages and can burn out even at low-level impulses. Therefore, signal converters, which are an important part of our automation systems, must be protected with Type 3 surge arresters.
Cascaded Protection
First of all, we need to provide cascaded protection in our factory. Signal converters are the final point in our facility; impulses coming from main panels and sub-panels can burn the signal converter even if there is a surge arrester protecting it. To prevent this, the panels on the line feeding the signal converter must be protected. As Yılkomer, as a result of our long years of experience, the products we recommend for main panels and sub-panels are;
- Main Panel: Type 1+2+3 LV Surge Arrester with low Up level
- Sub-Panel: Type 2+3 LV Surge Arrester with low Up level
Raydat PSC-2 Series DC Line Protection
For signal converters generally operating with 24 V DC voltage, they can be protected from sudden overvoltages by performing DC Line protection.
