17 July 2022CMCE 120 Series lightning prevention technology is designed to balance and deionize the effects of atmospheric events with the help of multiple compensators. CMCE 120, which creates a protective shield within its coverage area (120-meter radius), operates by balancing and stabilizing the electric field present in its environment. It functions as a passive system. By neutralizing lightning, it discharges electrical charges harmlessly at milliampere levels, preventing strong discharges and lightning events.
CMCE 120 is powered by the energy of ion movement generated from the atmosphere and the ground. It consists of a combination of capacitors that reduce the atmospheric electric field within the protection radius.
As the installation height of CMCE 120 changes, the protection radius remains preserved. The protection area is 120 meters at all installation heights. Since lightning does not strike the ground, the preparation time–height effect does not impact the protection area. CMCE 120 neutralizes charges from all directions. The geometry of each capacitor helps enhance the protection coverage and increases the flow of balanced charges.

Traditional air terminal systems do not prevent lightning from striking; they activate when lightning occurs and conduct it to ground. In such cases, all equipment can be induced, touch and step voltage risks arise, fire hazards occur, and the risk is extremely high for flammable and explosive facilities. CMCE 120, on the other hand, prevents lightning formation. There is a significant operational difference between the two systems. CMCE completely prevents lightning formation by balancing the magnetic field.
* In structures protected by CMCE 120, electromagnetic impulses, fluctuations, and sudden overvoltage damages do not occur.
* CMCE is an environmentally friendly product. It complies with ROHS and all environmental standards.
* CMCE contains no electronic components.
* CMCE contains no radioactive elements.
* CMCE has a NATO code and is used in many military facilities.
* Many airports, radar systems, industrial and military facilities worldwide are protected by CMCE.

As Yılkomer, with the world’s two most advanced protection systems—Sertec CMCE and Raycap Rayvoss—we aim to provide definitive lightning protection by safeguarding your facilities. While the CMCE system prevents potential lightning, using the Raycap Rayvoss system against lightning effects coming from the environment or via the grid ensures comprehensive protection of the facility from all directions. If you want to completely eliminate lightning risk at your facility, you should combine these two advanced technologies with correct engineering and implementation. You can contact the Yılkomer expert team for site surveys and technical support.
