Founded in 2004 in Karaköy as Türkiye’s first museum of modern and contemporary art, Istanbul Modern is reopening its doors in Galataport with its renewed design. Istanbul Modern, which has brought the artistic identity of our country to the world, has hosted nearly 9 million visitors since its establishment.
The new building of Istanbul Modern, which will open its doors at its former Karaköy location, was designed by the renowned architect Renzo Piano. Renzo Piano — the Pritzker Prize–winning architect behind many international museums and art institutions such as the Centre Pompidou, the Whitney Museum, Centro Botín, and the Beyeler Foundation — has approved the lightning protection project designed by YILKOMER. We wish inspiring days filled with art at Istanbul Modern, now protected by Yılkomer in accordance with international standards.
