In accordance with IEC 62305, the system was built based on the protection zones and risk maps generated using the rolling sphere method with air terminals in Solar Power Plants.
Our project utilized special air terminal systems designed by our partner J. Pröpster specifically for PV plants, capable of reaching heights of 8 to 12 meters. A total of six systems were installed, all integrated into the equipotential bonding network.
Surge arresters that dissipate lightning energy into the ground were also used, and the grounding values were tested and brought to the target levels in accordance with VDE and IEC standards.
The installed system does not attract lightning; instead, it activates only if a strike is genuinely expected to hit the plant. With the surge arresters installed on both AC and DC lines, overall plant safety has been maximized.
After three days of intensive work, the Lightning Protection Center engineering and installation team successfully commissioned the system.
