The regulation for protection against lightning and overvoltage is referred to as the TS 62305 standard. It consists of 4 parts.

TS EN 62305-1 LIGHTNING PROTECTION-PART 1: GENERAL PRINCIPLES

This standard covers the general principles to be followed for the lightning protection of structures, their installations, the people inside, and service installations connected to the structures.

TS EN 62305-2 LIGHTNING PROTECTION-PART 2: RISK MANAGEMENT

This standard covers the assessment of risks that occur in structures or service installations due to lightning strikes to earth. The purpose of the standard is to provide a procedure for the assessment of these risks. After the tolerable upper limit for risk is determined, the procedure ensures the selection of appropriate protection measures so that the risk can be reduced to a tolerable level or below.

TS EN 62305-3 LIGHTNING PROTECTION-PART 3: PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO STRUCTURES AND LIFE HAZARD

This standard covers the rules for protecting a structure against physical damage by means of a lightning protection system and preventing harm to living beings due to touch and step voltages that may occur near a lightning protection system.

TS EN 62305-4 LIGHTNING PROTECTION-PART 4: ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS WITHIN STRUCTURES

This standard includes protection measures that make it possible to reduce the risk of permanent failures caused by lightning electromagnetic impulse for electrical and electronic systems within a structure.
