Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular due to their clean energy, fast, economical, and quiet features. Charging stations are the most important complementary systems of electric vehicles; however, a possible lightning strike can cause the circuits of electric vehicle charging stations to burn as a result of its propagation through the ground. Here, electric charging stations are installed in many places such as homes, park-and-ride areas, multi-storey car parks, underground car parks, bus stops (electric buses), etc. Today, an increasing number of charging stations (both AC and DC) are being installed in semi-public and public areas, and therefore there is growing interest in comprehensive protection concepts. These vehicles are very expensive; the rate of being affected by lightning and surge risks in these investments is very high. As a result of lightning and surges, electronic circuits, meters, and communication systems may be damaged. Satellite systems where charging points are interconnected can be immediately destroyed by a single lightning strike.<\/p>\n

A lightning strike at a nearby point to the charging station will frequently damage the station. Therefore, it is likely that such surges may damage the vehicle during a charging process. Electric vehicles typically have electrical power up to 2,500 V, but a lightning strike can generate voltages 20 times higher than this. Protect your investments \u2013 prevent damage.
