The use of insulated lightning down conductors in lightning protection system designs has become mandatory not only in accordance with IEC standards but also due to developing technological structures. Considering the damage that a possible lightning strike may cause to communication systems and production lines, the risks of fire, and the risk of electric shock due to touch voltage, the use of insulated lightning protection conductors and insulated lightning protection equipment stands out as the most ideal lightning protection design. Insulated lightning down conductors are used for discharging the lightning strike from the air terminal to the ground in conductor surface descents; in steel construction structures; in lightning down conductors where the S protection<\/strong> distance cannot be ensured; in mechanical shaft transitions; and especially in flammable and explosive facilities and ex-proof areas. Considering the lightning characteristics of our country, the risk taken with non-insulated down conductors is quite high, and therefore, as Y\u0131lkomer, we recommend the use of a down conductor that has been tested against lightning and can provide insulation against lightning strikes in the 10\/350 microsecond waveform.<\/p>\n

As Y\u0131lkomer, we use Gromtor branded products, mainly manufactured in Germany and Poland, in insulated lightning down conductor systems. The Gromtor insulated lightning down conductor, referred to as the HVI Conductor, offers us the safest product in this field with its technological production and test certificates.<\/p>\n

However, one of the most important details we should not forget is that lightning protection system components form a whole. We can provide the most accurate solution with a fully designed system including insulated down conductor fixing systems and heads, insulated air terminals, and connection elements.<\/p>\n

Insulated down conductors must be fixed every 1 meter with special clamps. Against possible corrosion effects, we generally select these products in V4A Stainless Steel quality.<\/p>\n

In addition, special connection elements should be used in the head system during the connection of the insulated conductor to grounding and insulated air terminals. At this point, we again use insulated conductor heads with V4A Stainless Steel properties.<\/p>\n

If you use insulated lightning protection systems, the lightning protection installation will not corrode for many years; when we look around us, most non-insulated lightning protection systems have corroded and become idle. For this reason, choosing the most correct and standard-compliant products during the initial installation of lightning protection systems is very important.<\/p>\n

With Gromtor insulated lightning down conductor system applications, we recommend having the most accurate and safe lightning protection application in your facility. With 150 kA impulse insulation and leakage current at the milliampere level, it is the safest product in its category.<\/p>\n

Gromtor insulated lightning down conductor packaging is done in the form of reels. It can be supplied in 200-meter and 400-meter rolls as well as in pieces. Splicing is possible, but it is recommended to install the down conductor as a single piece whenever possible.<\/p>\n
