Recently, we have been frequently encountering lightning events caused by cumulonimbus clouds in many parts of the country, especially in Istanbul. In this dangerous natural interaction where ions in clouds combine with the earth, we have once again seen how important overvoltage protection units<\/strong> are. In the last week alone, hundreds of facilities and residential complexes in the Marmara Region were exposed to lightning strikes, resulting in millions of Turkish Lira in material damage. Especially for factories, production stoppages have emerged as the greatest risk.

\n(Faraday Cage \u2013 Lightning Rod Systems) take the necessary precautions against electric shock to people and physical damage to buildings. However, lightning impulses that can reach up to 200 kiloamperes create a major risk for all electronic systems and devices within the facility as the current flows from the external lightning protection system to the ground. Lightning also poses a serious risk due to its magnetic effects along the path it follows while reaching the ground from the external lightning protection system<\/strong><\/span>.
